about.

hi.

my name is netusha naidu. i also like to go by nn bahadoor.

i am not muslim, but i have a deep fascination and affinity towards the spiritual and cultural practices of islam, especially sufism. i still don’t identify with the marker though. bahadoor is persian for “warrior”. it is reminiscent of my fighting spirit through adversity and obstacles.

i am a historian, currently pursuing mphil in world history in the university of cambridge. my interest lies in the transnational peripheries of southeast asia. my love for history stemmed from the desire to find meaningful human connections through an examination of the past. this is not to romanticize history in any way, it is to recover and reclaim narratives of fluidity in our interactions, as a gateway to promoting better understanding between various groups that have become alienated from each other due to traumatic pasts, whether colonialism, war, occupation, revolution etc.

hence, borders have become an important component in my projects. inspired by the work of benedict anderson, jerry brotton and thongchai winichakul, i hope to shed light on the contemporary politics of southeast asia through contributing knowledge about subjects that continue to be treated with little regard to premodern existence.

i tend to shitpost on my blog a lot. but i started this during my final undergraduate year as a means to journal my thoughts, as scattered as they may be. i am quite eager to sketch my research plans and share material that provoked ideas about history. either way, this is just a space to empty my overworked brain, and in the long run, allow me to figure out how i am going to get through this life.
